The Integrated System Design Scheme of Nan'ao VSC-MTDC Demonstration Project
Nan'ao VSC-MTDC Demonstration Project is the first VSC-MTDC project in the world.The MMC (modular multilevel converter) topology and the integrated system design scheme of Nan'ao VSC-MTDC project are introduced.The converter station of the project adopts a single converter and bipolar connection, and is able to operate in the modes of AC/DC paralled, DC only and STATCOM.The present project consists of three terminals with branch type parallel connection, and in the near future, it will be upgraded into a system of four teminals.The main device parameters and protection configuration of the project as well as the starting process of the three converter stations are also presented.
