Targeted seismic data processing for early waveform inversion with land data
Full Waveform Inversion (FWI) has been widely used for marine data and produces good results. However, there are still some challenges in the application of land data. The major problems include that: (1)the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) of land data is very low; (2)the low-frequency components are commonly missing; (3)the starting model has too large errors. To mitigate these issues, a target seismic data processing workflow is developed for early waveform inversion with land data. First, data regularization is applied to produce evenly sampled records at the surface. Second, the outlier noise is removed based on a statistical analysis method. Third, the frequency-domain singular spectrum analysis is used to suppress the linear noise, which does not destroy the low-frequency components of effective signals compared with the traditional f-k filter. Fourthly, compressing sensing is used to suppress the random noise. Finally, structural filtering is applied to improve the continuity of seismic events, which produces high SNR records that are suitable for early waveform inversion. We apply this processing workflow to land field data and obtain good results, which demonstrates that the proposed workflow can protect the low-frequency components and produce accurate inversion results.
