Abstract

Different treatments of reducing source and reducing sink were carried out on hybridize rice Liaoyou1052 with big erect panicle and its parents sterile line 105B and restored line C52. Characteristics of grains filling of rice varieties with big panicle were studied. The results showed that the three varieties were all source-limiting types and existed two processes in grain filling. The grain-filling processes had a big difference between the superior grains and inferior grains in the same rice variety. The sterile line 105B had a small average grain weight and the difference between superior and inferior grains was small. The source-sink inconsistency was moderate, but the difference was bigger between hybrids and restores line C52. Reducing source could decrease the source-sink inconsistency and raise the average grain weight for source-limiting type, but reducing the sink had an opposite result.
