Abstract

In order to detect the lutein content in plants by HPLC,different pre-treatment methods were used to compare the effect of the extraction. The optimal method was took the freeze dried samples, extracted by acetone, detected by HPLC. The contents of lutein in different plants were determined by this method. The results showed that the highest content of the lutein is in collard, and then the leave of the sweet potato, amaranth and spinach.
