Study on Ovum Pick-up and Fertilization in Vitro on Cows

Abstract

In this experiment, ovum pick-up (OPU) was carried out under the B-type ultrasound scan guidance on Holstein in order to study the effect of the frequence of OPU and the treatment of FSH with estrous and no estrous Holstein on recovered oocytes. Meanwhile, The oocytes from ovum pick-up and slaughterhouse were fertilized in vitro and cultured to blastocyst. The result showed that: there was significant difference on recovered oocytes between twice every week and once every week. FSH was treated with estrous and no estrous Holstein preceding 3 days before OPU. There was no significant difference on mean oocytes per collection, recovery rate and high quality oocytes rate. There was significant difference on recovered high quality oocytes and blastocyst rate between from ovum pick-up and from slaughterhouse.
