A Comparative Study of Agricultural Products Virtual Water in the Red Triangular Region

Abstract

In this paper, based on calculating methods of the virtual water, quantitative analysis on virtual water of regional agricultural products is comparatively studied and some suggestions have been put forward on how to adjust the structure of agricultural products and utilize the water resources in Red Triangular Region, Chenzhou, Shaoguan and Ganzhou, in year 2000. Results show that,under the precondition of not cutting down the average water consumption needs, areas with abundant water resources can make full use of the water resources advantage with the trade of virtual water of agricultural products. By applying the virtual water strategy, it can alleviate the press of water shortage in other water-shorting areas, and can lead the development trend of consumption structure and consumption model of agricultural products, and bringing innovation to the regional resource management mechanism.
