A study of 11 new Sorghum sudanense varieties from China and abroad countries to analyzing the traits of grass yield, gross protein yield, growth periods, tillering ability, reproduction, and plant height was conducted in the Hebei Plain Farming Area. The result showed that: feeding cattle as green forage or as stored green forage, the variety “jianbao” appeared best in the traits of high yield and good gross protain yield, tillering ability, reproduction, growth as well; the varieties “jincao 1”, and “ruiao 3” were next to it. Sorghum sudanense can seed in spring or summer in the Hebei Plain Farming Area. Spring-seeding can harvest three times and summer-seeding can harvest two times.
