Sugar Signal and Sugar-mediated Transduction Mechanism in Plants

Online published: 2004-06-04

Abstract

In plants, sugars not only function as respiration substrates providing energy and metabolic substances for the growth and development, but can act as signal molecules that control gene expression and developmental processes. This paper summarize the multiple pathways of sugar signal initiation, the kinds of sugar signal existed in plant and the mechanism of signal transduction and regulation.
