We studied seven agronomic characters of F3 lines from ‘Japanese common vegetable pea’ × ‘semi-leafless vegetable pea, Bao cai 2’, i.e. plant height (x1), branch number (x2), sugar content (x3), pod number per plant (x4), percentage of dual pods (x5), seed number per plant (x6) and 100-fresh seed weight through path analysis. The order of relative importance of the seven character to fresh pod yield was x6 > x7 > x4 > x2 >x1 >x3 >x5. Among direct effects of seven characters to fresh pod yield, seed number per plant was the highest, 100-fresh seed weight was the second. Among all indirect effects, the indirect effect of pod number per plant through seed number per plant to fresh pod yield was at the first place. Considering all these facts, we should pay attention to balance of these agronomic characters in semi-leafless vegetable pea breeding.
