Shaandan 19, an interlinear hybrid variety of corn for grains and feeds was bred and released by the corn research division of the college of agriculture, the Northwest Science and Technology University of Agriculture and Forestry in 1997, with self-line Y75 as the female parent and self-line wu 308 as the male parent, both of which had been developed by the division. It presented good fruit set, strong adaptation, outstanding total disease resistance, optimal maturity appearance marked by green leaves and stalks, high kernel yield, high leaf and stalk yield, and good grain and feed potentials in the regional experiment of summer corn in 2000-2002 and the demonstration experiment of corn production in 2002, it is suitable to be planted in Shaanxi province, even potentially the regions of summer corn located in the reaches of Yellow River and Huaihe River or North China. It has been applied for the national protection of new corn varieties.
