Abstract

The effects of sucrose and sucrose -free media, different closures on the growth , fresh weight increasment , dry matter and rooting of Gerbera jamesonii plantlets in vitro were studied. Plantlets of rooting-stage could survive on the sucrose-free media .whichshowedthe characteristic of photoautotrophical growth , plantlets grown in the vessel closed withthe gas-permeable film closure have greater survival rate , fresh weight ,dry matter and rooting rate than those closed with airtight film. gas-permeable film closure also increase the proliferation rate of explants. The result showed the potential of controlling culture enviroment to improve the efficiency of micropropagation and quality of plantlets through photoautotrophical growth.
