Listeria brainstem encephalitis with myelitis is extremely rare in clinical practice.Since the clinical manifestations are non-specific,MRI is helpful for diagnosis.Positive cerebrospinal fluid culture is considered the gold standard for diagnosis.This article reports a case of an immunocompetent individual with listeria brainstem encephalitis with myelitis,aiming to enhance the awareness of this condition.

Hepatitis E is the liver inflammation caused by a hepatitis E virus infection.Immunocompetent patients with acute hepatitis E can spontaneously clear the infection,whereas immunosuppressed patients may not be able to clear the hepatitis E virus infection and develop chronic hepatitis.Most patients with hepatitis E are asymptomatic and present only with mild and persistent liver function abnormalities.This article reports a case of hepatitis E in an immunocompetent adult with elevated aminotransferases as the main manifestation.Hepatic fibrosis was detected by hepatic puncture biopsy.This report aims to remind other physicians to evaluate liver fibrosis when encountering acute hepatitis E,especially in patients with chronic liver disease.

Both carcinoembryonic antigen and CA19-9 are considered as predictive markers of intestinal cancer recurrence and metastasis.In addition,CA19-9 elevation is considered as a predictive marker of connective tissue disease-related interstitial lung disease.The incidence of oxaliplatin and capecitabine-associated interstitial lung disease is low,and there is no report about CA19-9 as a predictive marker of oxaliplatin and capecitabine-associated interstitial lung disease.This paper reports a case of interstitial lung disease with CA19-9 elevation caused by oxaliplatin and capecitabine adjuvant therapy for ileocecal carcinoma.The change trend of serum carcinoembryonic antigen in this patient was consistent with tumor recurrence and metastasis,and that of serum CA19-9 was consistent with the severity of interstitial lung disease.Therefore,CA19-9 elevation after intestinal cancer surgery does not necessarily indicate the tumor recurrence and metastasis,and attention should be paid to the possibility of oxaliplatin and capecitabine-associated interstitial lung disease.

Nodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma(NMZL),the least common subtype of marginal zone lymphoma,represents a low-grade malignancy arising from the marginal zone of lymph node follicles,composed of small B-cells with an inert non-Hodgkin lymphoma nature.It accounts for 1.5% to 1.8% of all non-Hodgkin lymphomas and 10% of all marginal zone lymphomas.The low incidence and lack of typical clinical and pathological features pose a challenge to the diagnosis and clinical management of NMZL.In this article,we reported the diagnosis and treatment of a case of NMZL located in the parapharyngeal space of the left neck and reviewed the relevant literature from both domestic and international sources.We summarized the clinical manifestations,histopathological features,immunohistochemical characteristics,imaging features,diagnosis and treatment modalities,and prognosis of NMZL.

Most tumor cells and healthy neurons are at rest during G0 phase.Once the cell cycle is abnormally re-entered under certain conditions,the proliferation of tumor cells and the degenerative necrosis of neurons can be initiated.From the perspective of the cell cycle,cancer and central nervous system diseases,two seemingly different disease types,have a common pathogenesis.This type of diseases is named aberrant cell cycle diseases.As a newly discovered microRNA(miR),miR-1976 is closely related to the regulation of the cell cycle.This review summarizes the progress in the research on miR-1976 in cancer and central nervous system diseases,aiming to provide a reference for the clinical application of miR-1976 in aberrant cell cycle diseases in the future.

This paper explores the impacts of accelerated rehabilitation protocols following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction(ACLR)on bone tunnel enlargement(BTE).While accelerated rehabilitation can shorten the recovery time and improve the knee function,it may increase the risk of BTE.In the early rehabilitation phase after ACLR,excessive early weight-bearing and rapid progression of knee flexion angles should be avoided,along with the proper use of braces.Continuous passive motion is not recommended in the early phase post-ACLR to prevent potential effects on BTE.Further research is needed to investigate the mechanisms of BTE and develop more effective rehabilitation strategies.This will help to select appropriate rehabilitation protocols for patients and balance functional recovery with the risk of BTE,thereby reducing the revision rate and improving postoperative outcomes.

Bisphosphonates(BP),a class of commonly used medications for treating osteoporosis and bone malignancies,significantly affect bone metabolism.When dental implants are placed in patients receiving BP,the potential impacts of BP on the formation and long-term maintenance of implant osseointegration cannot be ignored.In addition,the influence of dental implants on the occurrence of BP-related osteonecrosis of the jaw is garnering attention.This article explores the influences of BP on the stability of dental implants based on a review of previous animal and clinical studies,discusses the impact of dental implants on the occurrence of BP-related osteonecrosis of the jaw,and proposes suggestions for the dental implant treatment of patients taking BP in clinical practice.This review is expected to provide a theoretical basis for the related research and clinical treatment.

As population aging aggravates,the prevalence of dementia is increasing,seriously impacting the daily lives of patients.Sensory stimulation therapy has emerged as a safe and effective non-pharmacological intervention for individuals with dementia.Consequently,exploring non-pharmacological treatments for Alzheimer’s disease is crucial.By a review of the relevant literature,this paper provides an overview of sensory stimulation therapy in terms of the concept,applications,and effects on dementia,aiming to promote the broader implementation of this therapy in the care of individuals with dementia.

Biliary duct injury,congenital biliary atresia,biliary tract tumors,primary sclerosing cholangitis,etc.are common and refractory diseases in the digestive system in clinical practice.The existing surgical operations and drug treatments demonstrate limited effects.Organoids,as an emerging technology,have attracted much attention in recent years for deeply understanding the pathogenesis and development of these diseases and seeking more effective treatment approaches.An organoid,a three-dimensional complex derived from stem/progenitor cells,can simulate the complex structure and physiological function of tissues or organs in vitro.It provides an important platform for studying the pathogenesis of biliary tract diseases and brings new hope for the repair and regeneration of biliary tract injury.The seed cells for constructing biliary organoids are mainly biliary tract epithelial cells,pluripotent stem cells,etc.The conventional technologies for constructing biliary organoids mainly include embedding,rotary culture,and hanging drop culture.In recent years,new culture technologies such as organ chip and three-dimensional and four-dimensional printing are emerging.This article reviews the construction methods of biliary organoids,discusses the application of these organoids in disease model construction,disease mechanism research,drug screening,and tissue/organ repair,and proposes the current problems and future research directions of biliary organoids,which will provide reference for treating common refractory digestive system diseases in clinical practice.

Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection,with a high mortality rate.Sirtuin 3,a deacetylase within mitochondria,plays an important regulatory role in cellular metabolism,oxidative stress,and inflammatory responses.In recent years,significant progress has been made in the study of the function and regulatory role of sirtuin 3 in sepsis-related diseases.Research has shown that sirtuin 3 can alleviate organ damage caused by sepsis by regulating mitochondrial function,reducing oxidative stress,and inhibiting inflammatory responses.The specific mechanisms include the regulation of mitochondrial bioenergetics,activation of antioxidant enzyme systems,and inhibition of inflammatory mediator expression.In addition,sirtuin 3 plays a protective role in the pathological process of sepsis by interacting with multiple signaling pathways.This article summarizes the functions and regulatory mechanisms of sirtuin 3 in various sepsis-related diseases,aiming to provide new targets and strategies for the prevention and treatment of sepsis in the future.

Objective To explore the research progress and hotspots of intelligent ultrasound imaging in the diagnosis of thyroid nodules and clarify the research directions via the bibliometric method.Methods The relevant research articles on intelligent ultrasound imaging in the diagnosis of thyroid nodules were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection,covering the period from January 2004 to August 2024.Python was used to analyze the number of annual publications.VOSviewer was used to create the co-occurrence network of authors and the keyword density map.CiteSpace was used to demonstrate the dual-map overlays of the journals,as well as the bursts and clustering of co-citations and keywords.Results A total of 1 179 articles were included.The annual number of publications increased steadily.The involved journals demonstrated high quality,and the publications showed a trend of cross-research.Chinese researchers were the core research force in this field.Haugen et al.’s study on the guidelines for thyroid nodules had the most citations.The clustering of co-citations and keywords indicated studies in multiple fields.Thyroid nodules,cancer,and deep learning were the representative keywords in this field.Conclusions The continuous enrichment of research topics promotes the rapid development of intelligent ultrasound imaging for thyroid nodules.Intelligent diagnosis methods based on deep learning can provide diagnostic suggestions,while there are still challenges such as interpretation.One of the research directions is the deep combination of intelligent diagnosis algorithms and medical knowledge.

Objective To investigate the effect of health failure mode and effect analysis(HFMEA)in optimizing the management process of postoperative diabetes insipidus in children undergoing neurosurgery.Methods Based on HFMEA,a management flowchart for postoperative diabetes insipidus in children undergoing neurosurgery was created.Brainstorming was adopted to identify failure modes in the workflow,analyze risk factors,and develop improvement measures,thereby refining the management flowchart.The amelioration and prognosis of diabetes insipidus in these children before(October 2022 to November 2023)and after(January 2024 to February 2025)implementation of the management flowchart were compared.Results The HFMEA-based management process for postoperative diabetes insipidus in children undergoing neurosurgery alleviated the symptoms of diabetes insipidus regarding the number of diabetes insipidus in the pediatric intensive care unit(P=0.006),the average daily urine output in the pediatric intensive care unit(P=0.001),the proportion of electrolyte abnormalities at discharge/transfer(P=0.037),the duration of mechanical ventilation(P=0.007),and the length of stay in the intensive care unit(P=0.001).Conclusion The HFMEA-based management process for postoperative diabetes insipidus in children undergoing neurosurgery is beneficial to the optimization of the management process,the alleviation of postoperative diabetes insipidus,and the improvement of prognosis in these children.

Objective To analyze the changing trends of the burden of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)in China from 1990 to 2021 and provide a basis for formulating prevention and treatment strategies.Methods The standardized incidence rate,prevalence,mortality,and disability-adjusted life year(DALY)rate of NAFLD in China from 1990 to 2021 were extracted from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021.The average annual percentage change of rate data was calculated by Joinpoint 4.2 and the age,period,and birth cohort effects of the prevalence and DALY rate were analyzed by the age-period-cohort model.Results Compared to 1990,the incidence rate and prevalence of NAFLD have been on the rise,while the mortality and DALY rate have been declining.The age effect curves of prevalence and DALY rate showed an upward trend followed by a downward trend for both males and females.With the period from 1992 to 1996 as the reference group,the period effect curve of prevalence showed a downward trend followed by an upward trend,being the lowest in the period from 2002 to 2006(RR=0.93).The period effect curve of DALY rate showed a downward trend from 1992 to 2011 and then tended to flatten out.With the period from 1972 to 1981 as the reference group,the birth cohort effect curve of prevalence showed a steady upward trend in the general population and both male and female populations.The birth cohort effect curve of DALY rate showed an overall upward trend followed by a downward trend,with the peak occurring in the birth cohort group between 1922 and 1931.The DALY rate of NAFLD caused by smoking and high fasting blood glucose has shown a downward trend since 2014,and fasting blood glucose gradually became the dominant factor as age increased.Conclusions From 1990 to 2021,NAFLD in China has shown a rising prevalence but a significantly declining DALY rate.This suggests that current prevention and control strategies are effective,and further efforts should be made to raise residents’ health awareness in controlling the occurrence and development of NAFLD.

Objective To investigate the correlations of circulating miRNA-205 expression with systemic immune-inflammation index(SII)and systemic inflammation response index(SIRI)in patients with severe obstructive sleep apnea(OSA). Methods The patients who attended the Hypertension Center of the People’s Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from January to June 2023 and underwent complete overnight polysomnography were consecutively included in this study.Among them,30 patients had severe OSA,and 32 patients did not have OSA.Blood routine tests(white blood cells,neutrophils,monocytes,platelets,etc.)were performed and the expression of miRNA-205 was determined by quantitative reverse transcription PCR.Simple regression was adopted to analyze the correlations among miRNA-205,SII,SIRI,and OSA parameters.The potential regulatory effects of miRNA-205 on OSA and inflammation indices were further evaluated. Results The patients with severe OSA showed lower expression of circulating miRNA-205[1.910(1.240,2.403)vs.3.650(2.148,5.109),z=-3.874,P<0.001]and higher SIRI[1.090(0.775,1.573)vs.0.870(0.650,1.240),z=-2.031,P=0.041]and SII[555.200(451.780,936.350)vs.448.685(380.823,646.073),z=-2.029,P=0.042]than non-OSA patients.In the whole population,apnea-hypopnea index(AHI)showed a negative correlation with circulating miRNA-205(r=-0.391,P=0.002).Among severe OSA patients,each 1-unit increase in AHI was associated with a reduction of 0.030 in miRNA-205 and increases of 10.046 and 0.037 in SII and SIRI,respectively(SII:P=0.003;SIRI:P=0.037).Conversely,each 1-unit rise in miRNA-205 predicted a decrease of 121.093 in SII(β=-0.40,P=0.046).The low expression of miRNA-205 might have a negative moderating effect on elevated SII(β=-0.40,P=0.004). Conclusions Compared with the patients without OSA,those with severe OSA showed elevated SII and SIRI and down-regulated expression of miRNA-205.The low expression of miRNA-205 might have a negative moderating effect on the systemic inflammatory state associated with severe OSA.

Objective To investigate the expression levels of class Ⅰ histone deacetylases(HDAC)in the serum of patients with newly diagnosed psoriatic arthritis(PsA)and screen out serological indicators that are of significance for early diagnosis and assessment of disease activity.Methods A total of 49 PsA patients newly diagnosed in Shanxi Provincial People’s Hospital from August 2022 to February 2024 and 30 healthy individuals(control group)were enrolled in this study.Demographic data were collected,and disease severity was assessed.Serum samples were collected,and the expression levels of class Ⅰ HDAC(HDAC1,HDAC2,HDAC3,and HDAC8)in the serum of each group were determined by ELISA.The correlations between the expression levels of class Ⅰ HDAC and clinical assessment indicators in each group were evaluated.Multivariate Logistic regression was adopted to analyze the risk factors affecting the disease activity of PsA patients.The receiver operating characteristic curve was used to evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of the risk factors affecting the disease activity of PsA patients.Results Compared with the control group,PsA patients showed up-regulated expression levels of HDAC1(P=0.003),HDAC2(P=0.010),HDAC3(P=0.003),and HDAC8(P=0.018)in the serum.The serum HDAC1 level of PsA patients was positively correlated with erythrocyte sedimentation rate(r=0.344,P=0.028).The serum HDAC2 level was positively correlated with the overall assessment of disease activity(r=0.468,P=0.001),the disease activity index of arthritis(r=0.401,P=0.007),the number of swollen joints(r=0.308,P=0.042),hospital anxiety and depression scale(HADS)score of anxiety(r=0.360,P=0.018),and HADS score of depression(r=0.302,P=0.047).The serum HDAC3 level was correlated with erythrocyte sedimentation rate(r=0.542,P<0.001),C-reactive protein(CRP)level(r=0.440,P<0.001),HADS score of anxiety(r=0.420,P=0.005),interleukin-6 level(r=0.397,P=0.004),the overall assessment of disease activity(r=0.318,P=0.036),and the course of psoriatic arthritis(r=0.330,P=0.028).The serum HDAC8 level was positively correlated with HADS score of anxiety(r=0.477,P=0.008)and erythrocyte sedimentation rate(r=0.385,P=0.039).Compared with the patients with low disease activity,those with moderate to high disease activity presented up-regulated expression of HDAC3(P=0.041).HDAC2(P=0.028)and CRP(P=0.034)were risk factors for moderate to high disease activity in PsA patients.HDAC2(area under the curve=0.802,P=0.003)and CRP(area under the curve=0.718,P=0.033)had diagnostic value for the progression of PsA.Conclusions The expression levels of class Ⅰ HDAC in the serum of patients with newly diagnosed PsA were significantly different.The serum levels of HDAC2 and CRP are expected to become serological indicators for the early diagnosis and disease activity assessment of PsA.

Objective To investigate the value of ultrasonographic features combined with immunohistochemistry in predicting axillary lymph node metastasis in middle-aged women with breast cancer.Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 827 middle-aged female breast cancer patients who underwent surgical treatment at the Affiliated Hospital of Chengde Medical University from June 2017 to June 2023.Ultrasonographic and immunohistochemical information was collected,and the patients were randomly allocated into a training set(579 patients)and a validation set(248 patients).Univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analyses were performed to identify ultrasonographic and immunohistochemical risk factors associated with axillary lymph node metastasis in these patients,and a nomogram model was developed.Receiver operating characteristic curves and calibration curves were established to evaluate the performance of the nomogram model,and clinical decision curves were built to assess the clinical value of the model.Results The maximum diameter,morphology,boundary,calcification,and expression of human epidermal growth facor receptor 2 and Ki-67 in breast cancer lesions were identified as risk factors for predicting axillary lymph node metastasis in middle-aged women.The areas under the curve of the nomogram model on the training and validation sets were 0.747(0.707-0.787)and 0.714(0.647-0.780),respectively.Calibration curves and clinical decision curves indicated good consistency and performance of the model.Conclusion The nomogram model constructed based on ultrasonographic features and immunohistochemistry of the primary breast cancer lesion demonstrates high value in predicting axillary lymph node metastasis in middle-aged women with breast cancer.

Objective To develop a diagnostic model combining the CT angiography(CCTA)-derived myocardial radiomics signatures with the CT-derived fractional flow reserve(CT-FFR)based on coronary CCTA and investigate the diagnostic accuracy of the hybrid model for hemodynamically significant coronary artery disease(CAD).Methods The patients presenting stable angina pectoris,diagnosed with CAD,and clinically referred for CCTA examination and invasive coronary angiography were prospectively recruited.Radiomics features of the left ventricular myocardium were extracted from the three main perfusion territories demarcated according to the coronary blood supply.The extracted features were first selected by the minimum redundancy maximum relevance feature ranking method.A least absolute shrinkage and selection operator Logistic regression algorithm with leave-one-out cross-validation was then employed to construct a radiomics model.The CT-FFR value was generated for each blood vessel.The area under the receiver operating characteristics curve(AUC_ROC),sensitivity,and specificity were adopted to evaluate the performance of each model against the reference standard invasive coronary angiography/FFR.Results A total of 70 patients[42 men and 28 women;(61±10) years old] were included in this study and complemented CCTA examination,with 175 vessels and the corresponding myocardial territories undergoing invasive coronary angiography/FFR.A total of 1 656 specific radiomics parameters were extracted,from which 14 features were selected to establish the radiomics model.The AUC_ROC,sensitivity,and specificity were 0.797(95%CI=0.732-0.861),77.1%,and 73.7%for the radiomics model,0.892(95%CI=0.841-0.943),81.4%,and 88.8%for the CT-FFR model,and 0.928(95%CI=0.890-0.965),83.3%,and 88.4%for the hybrid model,respectively.The hybrid model outperformed the radiomics model and CT-FFR alone(P=0.040).Conclusions The radiomics signatures of the vessel-related myocardium from CCTA could provide incremental value to the diagnostic performance of CT-FFR and improve vessel-specific ischemia detection.The hybrid model combining CT-FFR with radiomics signatures is potentially feasible for improving the diagnostic accuracy for hemodynamically significant CAD.

Objective To evaluate the value of pre-ascent 6-minute walking test performed at a high altitude in predicting the incidence of acute mountain sickness(AMS)induced by rapid ascent to a very high altitude.Methods After baseline information was collected,participants completed the 6-minute walking test at a high altitude of 2 900 m.Then,they rapidly ascended to a very high altitude of 5 000 m.The Lake Louise score was recorded to assess AMS.Results The AMS group showed a shorter pre-ascent 6-minute walking distance(6MWD)at the high altitude than the non-AMS group[480.00(450.00,521.75)m vs.546.00(516.50,568.50)m,P=0.006].No difference was observed regarding the pre-ascent heart rate or peripheral oxygen saturation(both P>0.05).The pre-ascent 6MWD at the high altitude was negatively correlated with the Lake Louise score assessed after rapid ascent to the very high altitude(r=-0.497,P=0.012).Logistic regression analysis confirmed that the pre-ascent 6MWD at the high altitude was associated with the risk of AMS induced by rapid ascent to the very high altitude(OR=0.971,95% CI=0.947-0.996,P=0.022).The results indicated that the pre-ascent 6MWD demonstrated ideal prediction performance(area under receiver operating characteristic curve=0.846,P=0.006).Conclusion The pre-ascent 6MWD recorded at the high altitude is a convenient and reliable predictor of the AMS induced by rapid ascent to the very high altitude.

Objective To explore the relationships of cognitive impairment with cardiovascular death and all-cause death in menopausal women with hypertension.Methods A total of 4 595 natural-menopausal women with hypertension screened in Wuyuan County of Jiangxi Province from July to August 2018 were selected as the research subjects,and a follow-up investigation of death information was completed from June to August 2022.According to the baseline mini-mental state examination(MMSE)score,all subjects were allocated into a normal cognitive function group and a cognitive impairment group.The basic characteristics and the cumulative risk of death evaluated by the Kaplan-Meier curve were compared between two groups.The multivariate Cox regression model was adopted to analyze the effect of cognitive function on death,and the relationship between MMSE score and death was fitted by the restricted cubic spline.Results A total of 4 595 subjects with the mean age of(65.1±8.4)years were included in this study,in which and 1 859(40.5%)patients with cognitive impairment were detected.During a mean follow-up period of(3.9±0.4)years,199 all-cause deaths were collected,including 102 cardiovascular deaths.The normal cognitive function group and the cognitive impairment group had the cumulative all-cause death rates of 2.6%and 6.9%and the cumulative cardiovascular death rates of 1.0%and 4.0%,respectively.The Kaplan-Meier curve showed that the cumulative risks of all-cause death(χ²=47.287,P<0.001)and cardiovascular death(χ²=45.169,P<0.001)in the cognitive impairment group were higher than those in the normal cognitive function group.The results of multivariate Cox regression analysis indicated that compared with the normal cognitive function group,the cognitive impairment group had increased risks of all-cause death(HR=1.75,95%CI=1.28-2.39,P<0.001)and cardiovascular death(HR=2.56,95%CI=1.61-4.09,P<0.001).The results of the restricted cubic spline curve fitting showed that the MMSE score had linearly negative correlations with the risk of all-cause death(P_all<0.001, {{P_{non}}_{-}}_{linearity}=0.519)and cardiovascular death(P_all<0.001, {{P_{non}}_{-}}_{linearity}=0.195).Conclusion Cognitive impairment is an independent risk factor for all-cause death and cardiovascular death in menopausal women with hypertension,and early identification of cognitive impairment in this population is essential for timely intervention.

Objective To investigate the recovery of plasma metabolism in asymptomatic and mild patients of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)one year after recovery.Methods A total of 174 participants were recruited from the communities in Wuhan,including 80 healthy volunteers and the COVID-19 patients who had recovered for one year.According to the disease severity,the recovered COVID-19 patients were grouped as asymptomatic patients(n=80)and mild patients(n=14).The liquid chromatography mass spectrometry platform was employed to study the metabolomic characteristics of the plasma from all the participants.Results The plasma metabolites in asymptomatic patients and mild patients remained abnormal compared with those in healthy volunteers.Among the differential metabolites in asymptomatic patients and mild patients,some metabolites showed a downward trend only in mild patients,such as phosphatidylethanolamine[20∶3(5Z,8Z,11Z)/P-18∶0],sphingomyelin(d18∶1/24∶0),and cholesteryl(15∶0).The metabolic pathway involving the differential metabolites in mild patients was mainly glycerophospholipid metabolism.Conclusions Even one year after recovery,the mild COVID-19 patients still exhibit metabolic abnormalities.Hence,these patients may experience an extended period of time for recovery.

Objective To explore the functional mechanism of spinal cord fragile X mental retardation protein(FMRP)involved in neuropathic pain(NP)by using the sciatic nerve model of chronic compression injury(CCI).Methods First,to investigate the changes of spinal cord FMRP and β-catenin following the development of NP,this study compared the 50%mechanical withdrawal threshold(MWT)and thermal withdrawal latency(TWL)in CCI rats,as well as changes of FMRP and β-catenin in the spinal dorsal horn post-surgery,through random grouping.Immunofluorescence staining was performed on spinal cord tissue sections from CCI rats.Second,to further validate the alterations in pain behavior when the FMRP function was lost,we measured the 50%MWT,TWL,and FMRP and β-catenin in the spinal dorsal horn after FMRP knockdown in CCI rats.Finally,we measured the 50%MWT,TWL,and FMRP and β-catenin in the case of FMRP hyperfunction for validation.Results Compared with the baseline CCI group and the naive and sham groups after modeling,the CCI group after modeling showed decreases in 50%MWT and TWL(all P<0.001).After modeling,compared with the naive group and the sham group,the CCI group presented up-regulated expression of FMRP(P=0.027,P=0.022)and β-catenin(P<0.001,P=0.001)in the spinal dorsal horn.No co-localization of FMRP with astrocytes and microglia was observed in the spinal cord,while the co-localization with neurons was observed.Compared with the baseline,the CCI+FMRP knockdown group showed decreases in 50%MWT(P=0.015)and TWL(P=0.001)after modeling.After intrathecal injection of small interfering RNA(siRNA),the 50%MWT(P=0.020)and TWL(P=0.009)of the CCI+FMRP knockdown group were increased.Moreover,compared with the CCI group and the CCI+solvent group,the CCI+FMRP knockdown group showed increases in 50%MWT(both P<0.001)and TWL(P=0.005,P=0.006).After intrathecal injection of siRNA,the expression levels of FMRP(P=0.012,P=0.007)and β-catenin(both P<0.001)in the spinal dorsal horn of the CCI+FMRP knockdown group were lower than those of the CCI group and the CCI+solvent group.Compared with the baseline FMRP overexpression group and the naive and negative control groups after adeno-associated virus(AAV)injection,the FMRP overexpression group after AAV injection showed decreases in 50%MWT and TWL(all P<0.001).After AAV injection,compared with the naive group and the negative control group,the FMRP overexpression group demonstrated up-regulated expression of FMRP(both P<0.001)and β-catenin(P=0.006,P=0.008)in the spinal cord.Conclusions This study confirms that spinal cord FMRP and β-catenin are involved in NP induced by CCI.Spinal cord FMRP may be one of the potential therapeutic targets for NP.

Objective To explore the regulatory effects of cytokines interleukin(IL)-1β,IL-6,tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-ɑ),gamma interferon(IFN-γ),granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(G-CSF),and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor(GM-CSF)on spontaneous pyroptosis in neutrophils.Methods Neutrophils isolated from mouse bone marrow by density-gradient centrifugation were cultured in vitro for 20 h with or without 10,50 or 100 ng/mL IL-1β,IL-6,IFN-γ,G-CSF or GM-CSF,or for 12 h with or without 1,10 or 50 ng/mL TNF-α.After incubation,cells were stained with annexin Ⅴ(AV)/propidium iodide(PI),and the proportions and absolute number of neutrophils undergoing different forms of cell death were determined by fluorescence microscopy combined with manual counting.Pyroptotic neutrophils were identified by cell morphology in conjunction with AV/PI staining.Flow cytometry with counting beads was employed to measure the proportions and number of AV/PI-stained Ly6g⁺neutrophils in different forms of cell death.Western blotting was employed to assess the cleavage and activation levels of cysteinyl aspartate-specific proteinase-3(caspase-3)and gasdermin E(GSDME).Results Treatment with IL-1β or IL-6 had no significant effect on the proportion or number of neutrophils undergoing spontaneous pyroptosis.After 12 h of treatment with TNF-α at 1,10,and 50 ng/mL,the proportions of pyroptotic neutrophils were(14.79±0.45)%,(19.99±3.02)%,and(20.66±1.99)%,respectively,higher than that[(10.22±1.12)%]in the untreated control(P=0.024,P<0.001,and P<0.001,respectively).Treatment with 10,50,and 100 ng/mL IFN-γ for 20 h reduced the proportion of pyroptotic neutrophils from(17.43±1.88)%to 12.00%(all P<0.001).G-CSF at 10,50,and 100 ng/mL reduced the proportion of pyroptotic cells to around 6.00%and greatly inhibited the cleavage of both caspase-3 and GSDME.After 20 h of treatment with 10,50,and 100 ng/mL GM-CSF,the proportions of pyroptotic neutrophils decreased to(7.52±0.53)%,(5.27±2.30)%,and(0.64±1.11)%,respectively.Conclusions Neither IL-1β nor IL-6 affects GSDME-mediated spontaneous pyroptosis in neutrophils.TNF-ɑ induces spontaneous pyroptosis in neutrophils,whereas IFN-γ,G-CSF,and GM-CSF demonstrate inhibitory effects.

To reveal the evolution of research hotspots, the characteristics of knowledge structure, and future development trends in this field, a total of 806 Chinese publications and 2757 English publications related to scale insect (Coccoidea) research over the past three decades (1994—2024) were retrieved from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and Web of Science (WOS) databases, respectively. VOSviewer and CiteSpace were employed to conduct visual analyses of publication outputs, countries, institutions, author collaboration networks, source journals, as well as keyword co-occurrence, clustering, temporal evolution, and burst detection. The annual publication output exhibited an overall wavelike upward trend with periodic fluctuations. Among contributing nations, the United States, China, India, and Brazil emerged as the most prolific countries in terms of publication volume. Chinese literature mainly focuses on the description of new species of scale insects and their occurrence patterns, while English literature is more oriented towards biological control research, particularly in-depth discussions on natural enemies and host plants. The forefront of domestic research includes host plants and chemical control methods, whereas current international research hotspots involve plant pest, plant health, and pest risk. The visual maps presented intuitively depict the overall status of scale insect research over the past 30 years, indicating that research in this field is gradually deepening and developing well. However, current studies are primarily concentrated on new species descriptions and chemical and biological control, and it is urgent to strengthen the integration of basic research and application, particularly in the design and development of behavior-modulating agents targeting odorant receptors.

In order to study the effects of cultivation models on the growth, nutrition and taste of Chinese soft-shelled turtles (Pelodiscus sinensis), P. sinensis cultured in two different modes (paddy-field cultivation and pond intensive cultivation) were used to evaluate the growth performance, fatty acid nutrition and taste. The results showed that in paddy-field cultivation model, the specific growth rate (SGR) of P. sinensis was significantly higher than that in intensive pond culture by 82% (P<0.05), and the feed coefficient (FCR) was significantly reduced by 8% (P<0.05). The fatty acid nutritional value of P. sinensis was high in both cultivation models. In pond intensive cultivation model, the ratios of SFA/TFA (40.63%), PUFA/SFA (0.777:1), and SFA/MUFA/PUFA (1.28:0.86:1.00), as well as the AI, TI, and HH (0.500, 0.212, 2.087) in muscle were better than those in paddy-field cultivation model. Texture analysis revealed that the hardness, gumminess and chewiness of muscles and calipash of P. sinensis cultured in paddy-field cultivation model were significantly higher than in the pond-intensive model, whereas there were no significant differences in adhesiveness, resilience and springiness. In summary, the growth performance of P. sinensis under paddy field cultivation model was better and the muscle was chewy. And in pond-intensive cultivation model, the fatty acid nutritional value was higher and the muscle was tender and juicy.

In order to provide a theoretical basis for the preservation technology of Dendrocalamus brandisii shoots after picking, the alleviating effects of different low temperature preservation methods on the lignification process of D. brandisii shoots after harvesting were investigated. In this study, the bamboo shoots of D. brandisii from low hilly forest in Guangxi were used as research materials to analyze the changes of lignin, crude fiber content and key enzyme activity of lignin synthesis within 0-10 days after low temperature (4℃) vacuum storage and low temperature sealed storage. The results showed that the contents of lignin and crude fiber in bamboo shoots increased in different degrees within 1-10 d under the two cryopreservation methods. Vacuum treatment could effectively inhibit the synthesis of 43.21% lignin and 28.61% crude fiber. The total phenol content under vacuum treatment always maintained a continuous downward trend, while the total phenolic content decreased under sealing treatment until the 5^th day and showed a certain degree of recovery. The phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL) activity of bamboo shoots under the two treatments showed a trend of decreasing first and then slowly increasing within 0-2 d, and the PAL activity under vacuum treatment was significantly lower than that under sealing treatment from the 3^rd day (P<0.001). Principal component analysis and correlation analysis showed that lignin, crude fiber and PAL activity were positively correlated with storage days, and negatively correlated with total phenols. The results showed that total phenol, lignin, crude fiber content and PAL activity were the main response indexes in the lignification process of D. brandisii shoots after harvesting. The physical preservation method of 4℃ low temperature vacuum preservation can effectively delay the lignification process and the rapid decline of taste quality of bamboo shoots.

This paper focuses on the application of UAV remote sensing in crop nitrogen diagnosis, and comprehensively summarizes the development of nitrogen diagnosis technology from traditional nitrogen diagnosis technology, diagnosis technology based on digital image analysis to diagnosis technology of UAV remote sensing. The research and application progress of UAV remote sensing technology in nitrogen diagnosis of various crops are deeply analyzed. It is pointed out that the technology has the advantages of strong mobility, high degree of automation, non-destructive and high efficiency in precision agriculture. At the same time, the current challenges of the technology are objectively analyzed, such as massive data processing, limited model generalization ability, high application cost, and vulnerability to environmental interference. Finally, the future directions of deepening the mechanism and innovation model, breaking through the bottleneck of core technology, building intelligent application ecology, and promoting standardization and scale are prospected, aiming to provide theoretical support for promoting the in-depth application of UAV remote sensing technology in the field of precision agriculture.

In order to identify safe and efficient foliar herbicides suitable for cotton fields in Hubei Province, the effect and safety of 9 herbicides on weed control and cotton yield were compared and analyzed in this study by directional spray of stems and leaves after seedling. The results showed that 21 days after treatments, the control effect of 30% topramezone SC 27 ga.i./hm², 5% imazethapyr AS 100 ga.i./hm², 21% glufosinate-P-ammonium SL 820 ga.i./hm², 51% flumioxazin WG 60 ga.i./hm² and 50% prometryn WP 1050 ga.i./hm² on total grass fresh weight in cotton field were 99.40%, 86.07%, 91.17%, 98.81% and 99.34%, respectively. It was significantly higher than 25% sulfonsulfuron WG 26 ga.i./hm², 15% nitrone SC 190 ga.i./hm² and 10% pyrisulfuron WP 30 ga.i./hm². Yield analysis indicated that all herbicide treatments significantly increased the yield of ‘Gangmian 13’ cotton, with 21% glufosinate-P-ammonium SL 820 ga.i./hm² and 51% flumioxazin WG 60 ga.i./hm², showing the greatest yield increase. Safety evaluation revealed that only 15% mesotrione SC 190 ga.i./hm² posed potential risks to cotton, manifested as a significant reduction in root diameter. Field demonstration (compared to manual weeding) confirmed that both 21% glufosinate-P-ammonium SL 820 ga.i./hm² and flumioxazin WG 60 ga.i./hm² enhanced the yield of ‘Gangmian 13’. In conclusion, 21% glufosinate-P SL and 51% flumioxazin WG applied via directional foliar spraying at tested rates are recommended for weed control in cotton fields. This approach delivers significant efficacy while maintaining crop safety.
